Toronto based a cappella group Countermeasure‘s latest album “Guest Sessions” features collaborations with world class instrumentalists, with each piece being specifically tailored to compliment the sound and aesthetic of the guest artist.
Joining them on the recording are three multi-GRAMMY award-winners: Randy Brecker (trumpet), Evelyn Glennie (percussion) and Cindy Cashdollar (dobro) alongside JUNO-award winning fiddler Natalie McMaster, Quebecois guitarist Christian Roberge, Austria’s Pamelia Stickney (theremin), the 88 year-old band leader of New Orleans famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Charlie Gabriel (clarinet), and from Toronto, Rich Brown (electric six string bass), Kevin Fox (cello) and Michael Davidson (vibraphone).
Aaron Jensen, the composer and arranger for Countermeasure joins us on a very special Covid Times edition of the Sun Parlour Coffee House Sessions to chat about the new album, and how the band has been impacted by the on-going emergency – while sharing some of the fabulous videos they have prepared to support what is truly a fantastic project.
